Privacy Policy
Effective August 9, 2026
KitchenSync is a recipe and kitchen-inventory app. This policy describes what information the app collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect what the app needs to work, we use no third-party advertising or analytics trackers, and we never sell your data.
Information you provide
- Account. When you sign up we collect your email address and a password (stored by our authentication provider, Supabase), plus an optional display name.
- Your kitchen data. The content you create in the app: your pantry inventory, favorite recipes, cooking queue, meal plans, grocery lists, recipes you import, and your cooking history.
- Food preferences. Dietary preferences and restrictions you set (for example vegetarian, gluten-free, or nut-free) are stored so the app can filter recipes for you. We treat these as food preferences, not health information, and use them only for filtering and recommendations.
- Recipe imports. If you import a recipe from a photo, pasted text, or a link, that content is sent to our server and processed with Anthropic’s Claude API to extract the recipe. Photos are used only for extraction and are not retained after the recipe is created.
Information collected automatically
- Usage analytics (first-party). The app records product events — for example that a recipe was favorited or a grocery list was generated — in our own database, associated with your account. We use no third-party analytics SDKs, and this data never leaves our infrastructure.
- Crash reports. If the app crashes, diagnostic information (device model, operating-system version, and a technical stack trace) is sent to Sentry, our crash-reporting provider, so we can find and fix the problem.
- Recipe images. Recipe photos in the catalog are loaded directly from the original publisher’s servers, so those servers see your device’s IP address when images load — the same as if you visited their website. When you open a full recipe, it opens on the publisher’s own site in an in-app browser, where that site’s privacy policy applies.
How we use information
We use your information solely to operate and improve KitchenSync: to sync your kitchen data across sessions, personalize recommendations, generate grocery lists, fix bugs, and understand which features are used. We do not sell your data, we show no ads, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
Service providers
KitchenSync runs on a small set of infrastructure providers that process data on our behalf:
- Supabase — database and account authentication
- Railway — API hosting
- Anthropic — recipe extraction from imports
- Sentry — crash reporting
- Apple — app distribution and TestFlight beta feedback
Data retention and deletion
Your data is retained while your account is active. To delete your account and its data, email rahul@ktchnsync.com and we will remove it promptly. In-app account deletion is on our roadmap.
Children
KitchenSync is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update this page and revise the effective date above. Material changes will be called out in the app.
